Each patient should have an ophthalmological
examination
to see if surgery is possible, in this manner any disease can be
detected
which might be the cause of the vision problem. For example a detached
retina,
cataracts, glaucoma, diabetic retinopathy, etc. The cost for this
examination
is ¢37,000.00. (Costa Rican Colones).
After the ophthalmological examination the patient must have a corneal
map
examination (topographic), corneal thickness measurement
(pachometry) and a Specular Microscopy test. Cost for this three tests is a total of ¢75,000.00
for both eyes.
Each patient must have a blood examination for HIV-virus, (AIDS) by a
Costa Rican laboratory, which cost is aprox. ¢10,300.00.
